Today, the first day of our trip to San Miguel de Allende, began at our five o’ clock wake up call. We met at St. Albans at 6 AM, bid our farewells, and boarded the school bus that took us to Regan National Airport. Tired and groggy, we got on the plane to Houston. From there, we continued on to León in Mexico and drove for two hours to, at long last, Casa Carmen in San Miguel de Allende. We were greeted by a relentless thunderstorm, with lighting and thunder cracking and flashing frequently. We found our rooms and roommates, organized our things, settled in, and ate dinner shortly afterwards. The sandwiches and pineapple popsicles provided savory satisfaction after our long journey. Following dinner, we rested for a bit and hung out with friends. In the evening, we took a stroll through San Miguel and went to the park, where we played basketball, baseball, and soccer. In the words of one student, the day was “extremely tiring but filled with excitement.”
